J. Ax (real name Alessandro Aleotti, Milano 5.8.1972, Leone) e Dj Jad (real name Luca Perrini, Bollate MI 27.12.66, Capricorno) ARTICOLO 31.
Articolo 31 is the first Italian Hip Hop band to have ascended the Italian sales charts . Their debut album sold 90.000 units . A really explosive start ! After “ Strade di città ” came the “ Messa di Vespiri ” a perfect synthesis of content, entertainment and spirituality . The album soon reached the 150.000 units sold mark , thus projecting Articolo 31 onto the scene as the most solid facet of Italian Hip Hop .
The most important media soon caught on to their exploit and invited them to many of the main television shows. Articolo 31 were a growing phenomenon . A short tour toppled the last barriers . Articolo 31 were adored by the huge crowds which gathered for their concerts . 

At the end of the tour , the band won the “ Disco per l’estate ” . The “ Così Com’è ” album, their first with BMG Ricordi, was an important milestone : nearly 600.000 units were sold . Fans understood that this band was around to stay, they would not be yet another short-lived phenomenon . After having attained the most prestigious Italian discography awards, from the “ Festivalbar ” - performing in front of more than 300.000 people in the Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples - to “ Vota la Voce ”, during the 1996 - 97 , Articolo 31 closed two tours which had attracted more than 250.000 people The band’s “on the road” was portrayed in the “ Così come siamo ” video which presents some previously unreleased performances by Articolo 31 . A live album , “Articolo 31 live” was also released. “Così Com’è ” was also produced abroad where it became a hit and introduced Articolo 31 to the audience of many major European music festivals .
On April 20. 1998 , Articolo 31 released the single “ La Fidanzata ” just a few weeks before their new album “ Nessuno” - the fourth by J. Ax and D.J. Jad .

Erected around the unforgettable refrain of the first unforgettable Italian swinger, Natalino Otto’s “Oh mamma voglio anch’io la fidanzata”, the single confirmend the eckletic nature of Articolo 31 . In September 1998, Articolo 31 won the “ Telegatto ” television prize as the best band and two prizes for best videoclip with “ La Fidanzata ” ( at the PIM 1999 and at the Second Festival del Cinema Musicale ) . Articolo 31 is the only Italian band to have partecipated at the MTV Europe Music Awards 1998 category . In December 1998, they were awarded the special prize of the jury at the fourth Premio Ciampi in Livorno . At the beginning of 1999 , at the end of their Italian winter tour, the Milanese group strengthened their position throughout Europe and particularly in Switzerland, Austria and Germany : In Spring 1999 , articolo 31 transferred their operational base to New York where they began to work on their new album, the fifth . After a short summer tour with more than 30 shows, they were back at work in September . J. Ax and D.J. Jad have had many guests in their Milan Cinemusic studios, including Kurtis Blow who flew in from New York to partecipate in the recording . “ Perché Sì ! ” was mastered in mid November and released on December 17.
